This Kid Loves to Scare Me

The other day, Nate and I were out on a little walk, and stopped to talk to our neighbors at the swing set, and then came back to the porch so I could water some flowers. Now, we have some big arborvitae trees next to our porch, and whenever Nate is close to it, he grabs some leaves, or needley thingies off the one he can reach. So, I always park him a few feet away from the tree so he can't so this. Well, we went inside, and he was playing in our borrowed excersaucer (Thanks, Adrienne!) and he started to cough. His face went red, which is nothing new, since he chokes on his own saliva a lot of times. As I was looking at him and asking what was wrong, he let out two little projectile pukes! In one of the little puddles, I saw a little piece of arborvitae! What the?! I have no idea how he could have gotten it! It was about an inch long, and they're pretty narrow. But, I couldn't believe he got that one past me! I have been watching this kid like a hawk, but it doesn't seem to be enough! Jeez!

Hello! Here's just a few pictures of Nate. The first one is actually from a little while ago. April 22nd, to be exact. It was my birthday, and as a treat for me, we put up his new swing and he had a blast!

May 10th, at our friend Cristian's 2nd Birthday party. Nate's first time wearing such a hat. What a trooper!

This was May 20th, and he was nine months old, and giving some hugs to his buddies at Grandmom's:

He's babbling a lot, and saying "Dada, Ya, Baba" and jibber jabber like that. He said "Mama" once, but not really since then. Isn't that always the way? He sees me all day, and just wants to talk about Dada all the time!

My Boy

That's drool making his chin shiney...

What a face!

Well, here he is, getting so big. It's pretty scary- he's now pulling himself up onto his crib rail, a walker toy he has, and the couch! At eight months! For my birthday, that was my present- him gnawing on his crib rail, and me rushing out to get a teething cover for it. He also is making a couple of new noises with his mouth. An "S" and a "Th" sound. Almost like he's hissing at me! And, he's getting very good at putting his arm up in the air and waiting for a high five. Pretty awesome! Here's more pictures, courtesy of Grandmom...

Can you see those teeth?

We're in big trouble!

Update

This boy of ours has been growing like crazy, trying to crawl around whenever he can. He has been scooting a lot, not letting his front work with his back, and he gets on all fours and rocks back and forth, too. He's just starting to do an actual crawl in the past few days. He's got two teeth now, since last week when they broke through the gums. It's so cute! He's eating everything we put in front of him, but there are a few foods he makes a face at. He is mostly taking only one nap for me during the day, which is tiring, especially since I am going into work a couple nights a week. We ordered a bigger car seat for him, b/c the infant seat is rather tough to get him in and out of, and it's very heavy for me to lug in and out of the car with him in it! We got it online, almost 50% off what it would be in the stores. That was cool!

Here's Nathan in a moment of peacefulness:

Shoes! Glorious Shoes!

I got these for Nate a little while ago from Children's Place, on sale, plus I had a coupon code for an additional 15% off! Shipping for anything you bought was a flat $5.00. So, that brought my grand total to a whopping 29 bucks! For all these shoes! It was actually 29 something, but I can't remember the exact change. I don't think I get this excited about shoes for me!

Old School Toys

This is something I found at a wholesale club on sale after Christmas. I've been meaning to get a picture of it and show it off. I was so excited to find it! Does anyone remember having these back in the day?

I'm not sure who will be enjoying it more- me or the boy!

The Beach

Over the weekend, we took Nathan down the shore for the first time. We were looking for a place to stay on our summer vacation. We found a great duplex- top level, big deck, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, not that we need all that. But it's got a big living area/kitchen/dining room with a cathedral ceiling, it's in a nice location, and we are very excited about it. After we were done looking, we went to the beach, and Nathan just loved it! As soon as we got to the beach, he started dancing and jumping around it his father's arms! He was laughing and smiling. I think he's going to enjoy the shore. Here's what he looked like:

6 Months Old!

Hello! Nathan has been keeping me real busy, so I haven't been on here much lately. But, on the 20th, he turned six months old! How about that? Crazy, right? He is now starting to try and scoot around on his belly, especially if there's a toy just out of his reach. Soon he will be crawling, and it's making me nervous! He had his checkup on the 20th, and he weighs 17 lbs 3 oz and is 28 inches long! No wonder my back is killing me! He's eating pretty much everything that's put in front of him, too. For a while he was screaming a lot throughout the day, for different reasons, especially at dinner when I can't heat up his food fast enough. But for the past few days, he's been screaming less and babbling more. He really likes to give raspberries, too. It was funny- we visited Aunt Alexa and her son Cristian the other day, and Nathan was showing us how he can do the raspberries, and Cristian, who will be two in May, kept making the sign for "more"! It was so cute! He wanted Nathan to keep doing it, but didn't get that he's not really going to do it on command. Nathan had fun watching Cristian play and was doing a great job on Cristian's little piano toy. I guess I'll have to get him one of his own.

Check This Out

Dinner Time= Messy Time

Nate has now figured out that he can scream at the top of his lungs. During dinner is when he usually does it. This is when he also likes to make raspberries, which is rather messy since he does it after he takes a spoonfull of squash or some other colorful food! He's gotten Dan and me in the face a few times! I know I shouldn't laugh, but it's very difficult. The boy is just so darn entertaining!

100 Pageloads!

Not that I would have guessed it, but today we have 100 pageloads! Wow! To celebrate the occasion, let me announce all the yummy foods Nathan is enjoying regularly:

Rice cereal
Applesauce
Bananas
Squash! Yum!
Peas
Carrots
Sweet Taters

I think tonight it's time to try green beans. Here's a picture of the Boy:

Yay! A Highchair!

Ok, my computer connection is horrible, so it's not letting me upload any pictures. Next week, though, we are having Verizon Fios installed, so that should make a big difference. If it's not working for me before then, I will definately post a bunch up after I have it.

We got Nate a high chair over the weekend, and it's awesome! He tried it and peas for the first time last night. I didn't like the peas as much as the squash, but he seemed to be ok with it. I just know that now that his foods are more interesting, so will be his poo-poo!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful time over the holidays. I have been a bit too busy to find the time to write anything lately. We had a great time with our boy, who seemed to enjoy his first Christmas. He handled all of our outings with family quite well, and was fine with being passed around from person to person. He did pick up his first cold, though, since we ran into a few people that were sick. He's still pretty easy going, even with the cough and all around yucky feeling. Last weekend, he had his first taste of REAL food, which was squash. He's had a few tastes of cereal, but we hadn't tried veggies yet. He was very funny about it all, and loved grabbing the spoon from me. I guess I wasn't giving it to him fast enough! We decided to let him eat something more interesting, b/c he seems to be very excited about the food WE are eating lately, and likes to give us a bit of an attitude when we eat in front of him. He also likes to reach for our glass and try to steal some of whatever is in there!

I had taken him to get his picture taken for the first time before the holidays, and never got to put the pictures up. So, here's a few shots I'd like to share with you.
